Description:

We Design is looking for a Business Development and Operations Manager to join our growing team in Shanghai. As a Business Development and Operations Manager, you will work closely with the CEO in New York to support and advance prospective and current client relationships, provide client-specific research, analysis, and intelligence; as well as be a part of a strategic effort to grow the client base and build the business. 

You will find new opportunities and work on existing ones to ensure all can be developed and completed successfully. You will be responsible for making new things happen and for making sure existing projects continue.

You will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Business Development and Operations Manager candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, tenacity, enthusiasm, and a natural disposition towards collaboration. Able to wear many hats and thrive in a start-up environment, the successful candidate will also possess the ability to negotiate, influence, and ultimately secure new client relationships and expand existing relationships.





Responsibilities: 

The primary responsibilities will be Business Development and Operations, but this role will also work closely with the CEO to take on Strategic Projects, Event Planning, and other Office Support functions.



Support the promotion, development, and implementation of WeDesign in China which includes promoting the brand as a whole, as well as the individual programs/courses.



Work closely with existing partners Wailian Global and VO.



Research opportunities, get agreement & alignment from HQ, follow through and deliver to conclusion (rather than identify and passed over to someone else). 



Identify potential new markets and build new relationships with partners including: 

- New cities to expand into

- Government partnerships

- Luxury residential developments (to create WeDesign studios/salons)

- Educational routes including schools, teacher training colleges, institutions

- Retail/commercial opportunities (WeDesign studios/salon)

- Online routes, social media, media (embed in WeChat etc)

- Corporations (for executive education) and other communities. 



Other tasks:



Includes coordinating speaking engagements for CEO and AXD (JasonPaul McCarthy) and other WeDesign members.



Promote WeDesign to potential faculty. Recruit Faculty as needed. Create and maintain a database of potential China faculty. 



Work closely with Sales and Marketing managers on initiatives. 



Create and deliver presentations in Chinese and English on behalf of WeDesign.



Create and maintain database of guests for future communication/promotional use.





Development:

Identify digital and other systems to enable delivery of education - robots, webinars, masterclasses, Wechat, Alibaba, Toutiao, Weibo etc –woth with Tech leader in NYC to develop



Identify new areas related to design that WeDesign can develop as courses e.g. design teacher training, tech design, specialized executive education



Provide feedback to WeDesign on how we are perceived and what we need to do/stop doing/improve/avoid etc



Deliverables:

Make WeDesign run successfully in China

Success measures for WeDesign China team overall:

• Number of students

• Number of educational partners that deliver WeDesign

• Number of WeDesign courses

• Number of independent WeDesign locations

• Number of WeDesign events (promo etc)

• Number of faculty that want to work with WeDesign

• Exposure (media) of WeDesign

• Brand awareness among key groups including: students, parents, execs, media, influencers



Qualifications. Skills and Background:

Bachelors Degree or professional equivalent in related field 

3-5 years experience in education related or creative communication fields

Excellent organization, time management, and relationship building skills

Thinks “Big Picture” with superior attention to detail

Experience with online product

Experience/Knowledge/Strong interest in design related business

Experience/Knowledge/Strong interest in education

Experience developing sales plans 

Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, visual



‘* Fluent in written and verbal English and Mandarin is critical
