Requirements

Ph.D., Dr. rer. nat in chemistry (organic chemistry) 

Profound knowledge in preparative organic and analytical chemistry

Several years of experience (minimum 3) in research & development of organic colorants, intermediates and chemicals.

Good knowledge in chemical synthesis, manufacturing technologies, and application technologies. Good knowledge of the product development process of textile dyes

Good knowledge of English language

Project management skills in organization, planning and execution of complex interdisciplinary projects

Leadership ability to lead a team of employees of technical, mainly chemistry, background 

Transformation of lab procedures and product properties into feasible bulk production manuals for synthesis and physical operations

Experience in the development of new products and innovative technologies 

Experience in scientific documentation systems

Experience with patent applications and examinations in the area of textile dyes 

Consciousness for safety-, quality- and cost-matters 

Sound experience in scale-up from lab manuals to suitable processes for dyestuff production sites.



Job Tasks

Manage R&D projects 

Conceptional planning of the process to upscale lab procedures to production manuals and optimize current production processes.

Develop new / alternative synthesis routs for R&D products

Allocate resources in the project team to ensure execution of project work.

Monitoring of project milestones, communication of deviations from plan to management

Reporting to the steering committee 

Ensure smooth transition of new products to production and sales, according to the new product launch process Manage R&D laboratory 

Planning of laboratory work and pilot plant (chemical synthesis+ physical operations)

Allocate resources of the laboratory team 

Ensure a proper analytical characterization of lab samples by proper analytical methods such as HPLC

Ensure safety standards in the laboratory, in line with the DyStar code of conduct (Arbeitssicherheits-, Umweltschutz- und gewerbehygienischen Vorschriften)

Develop laboratory & pilot-plant manufacturing procedures

Plan production of representative samples for product registration according to legal requirements (chemical law) and Kg-samples for customer testing

Manage R&D documentation

Ensure proper documentation of all R&D laboratory work in respective documentation systems (e.g. databases)

Screening of scientific literature & patents for relevant scientific developments in analytical and preparative chemistry 

Invent new procedures, and secure a strong IP position by drafting patent applications, and technical support for corporate patent attorneys in defending company patents in patent examinations and legal proceedings
