Summary of Position:

Responsibilities will be divided between Management and the creation of test fixture design solution(s) for New Product Development and Sustaining support that will meet the requirements and expectations of the Brand and Contract Manufacturer. 



Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee all Machine Shop operations to include personnel, facilities upkeep and safety. 

• Manage the performance of the Machine Shop team, providing guidance and mentoring to less-experienced team members. 

• Create and oversee the mechanical design of test fixture assemblies using SolidWorks software. 

• Collaboration with the Test Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Contract Manufacturer and Machinist to provide a test fixture design solution that balances complexity, functionality and ease of machining according to schedule.

• Onsite support for a Packaging Test Lab and Packaging Test Technician.

• Provide continual design innovations resulting in improved quality, universal usage, ease of use, improved First Pass Yields and cost reductions.

• Tracks, maintains and records fixtures to be machined, fixture type and quantity built for all projects.

• Track, maintain and provide our Contract Manufacturers with a safety stock of commonly used consumables.

• Work with our Contract Manufacturer(s) to identify and resolve New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining test fixture mechanical issues.

• Participate in multi-discipline teams utilizing DFMA and DFT

• Creation of a documentation package for fixture designs to include the specified mechanical drawings and Bills of Materials according to Oracle requirements.

• Carries out other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

• Possesses excellent English written and oral communication skills.

• BSME or related degree with 5 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering design.

• Proficiency user of SolidWorks (3-5 years’ experience), Microsoft office, Oracle with Pads and Master Cam experience a plus.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills, with ability to motivate and work in teams, to work independently and make autonomous decisions when necessary.

• Ability to identify production / manufacturing problems and lead resolution efforts.

• Must have a good understanding of different type of plastic and metals used for test fixture design.

• Capable of managing multiple project assignments.

• Working knowledge of the use of Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauge and common inspection tools, along with all types of CNC and Mill cutters and tools.

• Is willing to travel both domestically and internationally.
