Job/Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of both embedded software and system development for actuator products through the complete design cycle into production.  

Major Areas of Responsibility
•	Ownership of embedded software and system engineering through the entire actuator product development lifecycle (requirements/architecture, design, development, maintenance and end of life).
•	Ownership of the Calibrations (CAL) file as a whole, starting with the control systems portion of that CAL file.
•	Be responsible for the development of Custom Product Test Tool. These include Python scripting for automated testing, and Excel macros & formulas for test data post-processing.
•	Working closely with mechanical engineering, electric machine engineering, test system engineering, and automated test & diagnostic tool disciplines on product development to understand requirements and constraints such as performance optimization
•	Providing technical support and instruction to technical staff & customers regarding test data creation, collection, and post-processing. Communicating with customers regarding customer requirements, bugs in production software, and problems meeting required performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•	Good working knowledge of English (including programming terminology). 
•	Understanding of microcontroller software architecture and programming interfaces.
•	5+ years’ experience in producing production code in an embedded C / C++ environment (from concept through to mass production), including documentation, code reviews and module testing.
•	Experience in understanding / reviewing / maintaining code developed by others. 
•	Working experience conducting software development of electronic product from concept through to mass production is required, BLDC motor experience is preferred.
•	Experience debugging code with a source code debugger.
•	Requirements management experience or training: extracting requirements from written specifications, evaluating requirements, working with requirements traceability matrices.
•	PID Control System tuning experience is preferred.
•	Experience with requirements-based software testing and test tools.
•	Experience with software configuration management tools.
•	Capable of operating lab equipment and tools including Oscilloscope, soldering irons, etc.  Magnetics experience is preferred (motors: ideal, Hall Effect sensors: good).
•	Automotive Experience or Knowledge on CAN J1939, ISO 26262, IATF16949, APQP, MISRA C, DFMEA, FTA, Software tools development in VB.NET/ or C# will be plus.
•	Experience with PC-board-level software troubleshooting and Mat lab/Simulink simulation will be a plus.
•	Mastery of Microsoft Excel or related analytical tools (for post-processing test data, charts for communicating issues to the other disciplines);

•	Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
