Overview:
The Supplier Development Engineering – Categories is responsible for managing multiple strategic categories as identified by Corporate Supply Chain. Also, should be on site control of supplier production process and quality 100% to Southco requirements.
This role not only manages key categories in vendor development, monitors Key Performance Indicators for each managed category (including new project/vendors development, new manufacturing process, Delivery, Average Cost Per Piece, Number of Suppliers, Average Payment Terms, PPM). But also, continually quality improvement, works with suppliers’ quality team to ensure pre-shipment inspection on site in supplier plant.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and communicate strategy/plans including CNC Machining, or Alu&Zinc Casting, or Investment Casting, or MIM, or Stamping category. To include at a minimum, annual quality/delivery/cost improvements, supplier selection and rationalization.
2. Monitor performance of Machining/Alu&Zinc Casting/Investment Casting/MIM/Stamping categories using scorecard achieving year on year improvement goals. On site to support vendor delivery and quality.
3. Monitor market conditions, price trends, and potential opportunities – develop and implement action plans to maximize value.
4. Lead complex and strategically important negotiations. Provides negotiation advice and directions to other procurement team members. (Establishes key objectives)
5. Project Management of Category Cross Functional Teams to achieve project goals.
6. Manage financial and risk mitigation. Calculates Total Cost of Ownership.
7. Generate specific knowledge of technical requirements involved with assigned categories responsibility.
8. Develop successful business cases and recommend changes to senior management.
9. Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technological, Business or related area
2. Minimum five years’ Manufacture/Quality Experience. A clear and practical understanding of the use of quality improvement methodology such as PPAP, 8D, SPC, Six Sigma, Poka-yoke etc.
3. Quality tools is must and CPSM Certification prefer
4. Working knowledge of ERP, Lean Manufacturing,
5. Excellent communication/negotiating skill, Ability to lead global, virtual teams
6. Proven track record of improving quality, delivery, cost with suppliers.
7. Multi-cultural teamwork experience.
8. Good working knowledge of global supply market capabilities, pricing policies, best practice category management, spend management, tools and templates, and effective stakeholder management.
