The University of Nottingham is one of worlds top-ranked foreign university to be approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education under the new Sino-Foreign Education cooperation Law to establish and run a campus independently in mainland China. The first cohorts of students were recruited to degree programmes taught entirely in English in September 2004. The University estimates that within five years the on-campus student population will exceed 4,000.
