Universal Beijing Theme Park & Resort is a world-class Universal theme park and resort project built in Beijing upon the approval of the Chinese government. This brand-new theme park will embrace many new attractions that are specially designed for it and some of the most popular themed entertainment experience of Universal in the whole world. With an overall investment of dozens of billions of yuan, this project is jointly owned by Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd. (“Shouhuan Investment”), which is collectively established by a number of state-owned enterprises led by Beijing Tourism Group, and Universal Parks & Resorts (“UPR”), a Comcast NBC Universal company.
Shouhuan Investment is a platform company established for investment, development, operation and management of Universal Beijing Theme Park & Resort upon the approval of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality. Five shareholders of Shouhuan Investment have extensive experience in tourism, culture, and real estate development among various sectors.
UPR has created several of the most popular tourism destinations in the world, including Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore.
Universal Beijing Theme Park & Resort, along with its auxiliary facilities, is located in the northwest corner of the junction of Beijing-Harbin Expressway and East 6th Ring Road, Tongzhou District, Beijing. The theme park covers an area of 120 hectares. Moreover, a Universal CityWalk that embraces diversified retail, food and beverage (F & B) facilities,and the NUO Resort Hotel will form the integral parts of the resort. The final footprint of the project will be 400 hectares.
